CZ Electronics' midyear progress report

After a tough period that the whole industry was subject to, we have managed to increase profitability significantly and are in the fortunate position of being able to upgrade our plant. In the last month or two, we have bought two new BGA rework stations, two new AOI machines, a new lead-free wave solder machine, a new lead wave solder machine, a new solder stencil cleaning system, numerous crop and form machines (manual and automatic) and equipped the entire workforce with new ESD uniforms and shoes. In spite of rumblings in Dataweek recently, CZ Electronics has proved the detractors wrong, by being able to maintain a healthy and sustainable business that can be internationally competitive. The future has not looked so good in a long time, and the industry can be prepared for some outstanding developments in the near future that will cement its faith in the abilities of local manufacturing. The only bogey on the horizon at the moment is the impending electricity price increases. As soon as we have calculated their impact we will revert to the customer base and negotiate any increases, but, as it is only a small component of our overhead, we do not expect it to have a significant effect. Wage negotiations were successfully concluded back in March and have made a negligible effect on our profitability. The year to date has seen month on month growth and at least two new customers joining the CZ family a month. They have been impressed by our pricing and commitment to their success. To our existing customers we say a huge ‘thank you’ and to any potential customers out there we dare you to try us – we guarantee you will not be disappointed.
