Bombay Dyeing group co plans to sell sunmica division
Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation Ltd (BBCL), belonging to the Bombay Dyeing group of Mr Nusli N. Wadia, has decided to sell the sunmica division for about Rs 100 crore to an Indian subsidiary of a Japanese company with a view to focusing on its core business. BBTCL is a major player in the plantation sector.
In a communication to the stock exchanges on Wednesday, the company said the board of directors of BBTCL has agreed, subject to necessary approvals, to sell its sunmica division engaged in the business of manufacturing and marketing decorative and industrial laminates, which is located at Rudrapur.
A business transfer agreement to this effect has been signed between AICA Laminates India Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of AICA Kogyo Ltd, Japan, and BBCL on August 10 for a lumpsum consideration of Rs 100.30 crore.
AICA Kogyo Ltd is one of the leading listed Japanese companies engaged in laminate business besides adhesives and other building products. The decision to sell sunmica division is in line with its restructuring plan to focus on core business and exit from businesses giving low returns.
