It addresses many of your concerns, particularly the accusation that the privacy of her daughter and the boyfriend of her daughter, have been invaded by the display.
And it raises an interesting idea whether the families of each speak different languages, which is why a conversation that seems to run the plant to be an uncomfortable or unthinkable in another.
She writes:
The experience of having this posted on this popular site has been fascinating.I wrote an essay on a really important day in the life of my daughter: She moved forward with a big decision someone in their peer group is dead. The catalyst for writing the essay was the juxtaposition of our affirmation of life against the conversation, the death of the brother of her friend. We were happy that day, Allison and me, and then the wind was taken out of us.

That's what I know: a moment of that day are not here - fodder for another test - which happened between the time dinner time with me and racing with friends. She wanted to share our conversation with his friends, but would not be so happy with her own love life when two of his friends were nursing broken hearts recently, there had been a few pregnancy scares, and none of the girls were able to talk to their mothers about birth control, but all were sexually active.She was not reluctant to share because our conversation was "scary" or "inappropriate".
